The numbers dead or missing in the Grenfell Tower fire disaster has now risen to 79, according to London police.
Commander Stuart Cundy of the Metropolitan Police said the death toll may rise further, as officers establish who was in the building on the night fire ripped through the 24-storey west London tower block
This morning, I know there are 79 people that are either confirmed dead, that have been identified, or are missing, and sadly I have to presume are dead.
That number – 79 – may change. I believe there may be people who were in Grenfell Tower that people may not know are missing and may not have realised were in there on the night.
Equally there may be people who thankfully managed to escape the fire and for whatever reason have not let their family and friends or the police know that they are safe.
